Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
I decided I wanted to be a counselor and help heal and create healthy marriages.
Majored in psychology in college.
Went to grad school to get my MFT.
Dropped out of grad school to try working in the real world for awhile.
Worked a few different jobs in different areas and then was unemployed for 9 months.
Worked on my own blog, speaking to an audience of young women and worked on my writing.
Got a job doing PR at my job now and grew into a position I didn't know I wanted at first.
Am learning how to balance my love for my career and the passions I have to live a full life.

Day to Day

I make relationships with journalists, help give feedback to our producers on what will make a project more promotable, I pitch out our work to online publications and journals and try and secure placement in order to get our clients more visibility. And I also help promote our own agency and work through social channels and outside publications as well.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Take interest in lots of different subjects. You never know when you might find something that excites you outside of your planned occupation. Talk to people about their dreams and their careers and try out different classes and activities to help you be well-rounded and to get a grasp on all that life has to offer.
