When it comes to starting a new endeavor, there’s always a reason to say 'no.' You have to choose to focus on the reasons to say 'yes' instead.

Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to become a teacher.
I went to Salisbury University and earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
I began my teaching career as a second-grade teacher at a Title I school.
After three years as a second-grade teacher, I transitioned to teaching fourth grade—I currently teach fourth-grade math, science, and social studies.
In addition to teaching full time, I also run a YouTube channel called "Pocketful of Primary."
I use my YouTube channel to help empower, inspire, and motivate other teachers by sharing applicable classroom strategies.
Keep following my journey

Day to Day

No two days as a teacher are ever the same. In a single day, I plan and teach lessons, differentiate instruction, give students feedback, grade papers, answer emails, attend meetings, and more!

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for professionals

My advice to new teachers is to focus on connections and relationships. Making time to connect with students and foster those relationships should be a priority if you're hoping to make the best impact possible. If that means taking five minutes out of the beginning of a math lesson in order to connect with a student, that's okay! It's also important to connect with other teachers. That community support can help you find inspiration and motivation to get through the more difficult days.
