Senior Director of Software Engineering
I lead a software development organization of 40+ engineers.
On a typical day I facilitate agreements or through disagreements. I help my team through personal or professional issues and help them develop their career. I help with managing long term plans for projects, so my team can focus on just the next couple of weeks. When we don't meet deadlines or our project can't do what we were asked to make it do yet, I deal with those situations so that end so my team can focus on their work.
Here's the first step for everyone
Find something you're passionate about and go do it, especially if it involves technology. If you love to do something, then employers will see that. Just go make projects you're proud of.
"Entered this career as it was sort of exploding, faced mostly people telling me to enter the field."
I don't have many regrets, I guess I would have left my current job sooner. Being able to always be learning and growing is important.
learning how to be a team player is important. Find a community, develop social skills.
