Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
It was worth creating LIT because I have created something that has never existed before. We impacted hundreds of families if not thousands. To me, that's worth all of the stress.

Day to Day

On a typical day, it starts at 6 a.m. sometimes 5 a.m. I'm my own boss so if I don't get up it's on me but the work never goes away. Even before covid, I liked to work from home. I'll go to the office in the afternoon when students are there. I get about 100 emails a day so I have to check my inbox to make sure I don't miss anything. I have eight staff members in the summer and I have to make sure they all know what to do and manage them. Every day is changing, it's never the same.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

To be an entrepreneur and do something that helps the community, you have to have that deep "why" and know what is the actual reason you are doing it. Find your "why" and understand it.

Hurdles

The Noise I Shed

From Family:

"A lot of people told me not to do it including the closet people to me because they were afraid. I used to make a lot of money at my previous job before I started the non-profit. They were worried about the personal toll I would take on."
