Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
Left college after 1 year to work in a bigger city.
Went back to college, changed my major three times, only to leave college yet again.
Turning point in my life was when I realized that a good paying job could only come with a college education. I decided to go back to college, and I stayed till graduation.
Worked for a number of different companies after graduation, trying to find my niche. After 9 years, I left retail to become a teacher.
Finished my Master's Degree in School Counseling and now beginning a new journey.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

Ask yourself if you are willing to take on the challenges of a being a teacher, as well as the rewards. Are you willing to be flexible, optimistic, and open-minded in even the hardest of situations? All children are different. It's important to remember that each child could be facing personal challenges before they even step foot into the classroom. Ask yourself if you are able to teach in a way that will allow them to learn and be successful.

Hurdles

The Noise I Shed

From Peers:

"Discouragement came in the form of a lack of goals. I learned that if I continued to surround myself with people who had no ambition, I would end up like them. Unfortunately, it took me a few years to figure this out."
