You will be different from all of your family.
How I responded:
It is difficult to be the first one - and possibly the only one in your family to go to college - however, you may inspire younger members of you family to follow your path. For those that continue to believe that you have wasted or are wasting your time by pursuing post secondary education - you may never convince them otherwise - but you have to do what is best for you.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
It takes a lot of perseverance to continue to pursue your path when other are discouraging you - however, you have to remind yourself of what is important to you.
