Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
My first goal was to leave my small town, move to Los Angeles and go to a fashion college - goal to work in fashion with advertising or public relations.
After receiving my first degree, I went into advertising / PR. I loved it, but at the time, too selfish to give my full commitment.
Decided to go back to school after working in a preschool.
Received an AA Degree in Childhood Development to teach preschool, but decided I wanted to teach older students.
Went back to school to obtain my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies.
Worked as and English teacher for 15 years, then switched to our school's Community Liaison and Business teacher (PR comes back full circle), while helping seniors with their college applications.
Went back to school to obtain my master's degree in Educational Leadership, as suggested by my principal. Found I still enjoyed working with students. Principalship on hold...for now.
Currently working as the College and Career Specialist at our local high school.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

Find a passion and never stop learning. Keep researching, reading, attending seminars, but most importantly, find what works for you and suits your lifestyle. Make acquaintances, but NEVER burn your bridges - you never know when you may meet or need this person's help in the future.
