My road in life has been direct.
First I was inspired to become a teacher because I had a fantastic teacher in high school.
I saw a how a colleague was getting her degree while working and thought I could do the same.
As a teacher I saw a need to address emotional concerns and felt a calling to do just that!
I had a fantastic internship experience.

Day to Day
A typical day as an elementary school counselor involves giving counseling lessons (2-3 a day), seeing students individually to address a specific concern, attending meetings with various "stakeholders" to help brainstorm strategies to help a student be more successful, and meeting with small groups of students to address a shared concern. I get to work with the entire school population (students, staff, parents) in a variety of setting. There is never a dull moment as a school counselor!
