My road in life took a while to figure out.
Completed degrees that prepared me for the goal.
Gained experience in the field.
Moved into leadership roles and focused on making positive changes for students.
Diversified the experiences by seeking opportunities at the university level.
Relocated to accept positions of leadership at that level.
Remained committed to my belief and work of improving education for all.

I lead the School of Education and Professional Licensure.

Day to Day

My days are filled with communications, research, meetings with faculty, students, professional organizations, school and district partners around the nation, and other university personnel. I frequently travel to attend conferences, summits, and conventions as well as our national faculty meetings and commencement ceremonies.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Invest a great deal of time in all of your courses and parallel organizations and talk to advisors and career specialists about opportunities and requirements in the field. Take courses that will lead to having strong skills in the areas of general education, communications, and psychology / learning theory. Take advantage of leadership opportunities in academic and professional groups, and read and analyze the current research and practice in education.
