Day to Day

I rise every morning before the sun. I then tend to all the living beings on the farm. The pigs, the cows, dogs and cats, corn plants, tomatoes, apple trees, pear trees, pasture and chickens. After all of these beings are watered and fed I come into the house and eat a hearty breakfast. After breakfast I tend to my seasonal jobs. These jobs include mending fences, giving a lecture, making compost piles, cleaning animal stalls, harvesting fruit. An endless list of jobs. Then evening chores begin.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

The most important first step would be to locate local farms in your area and volunteer to help on the farm. Farming is very hands on. Then work at various different farms. Agriculture comes in many forms. You can raise sheep for wool, milk cows, grow flowers for weddings, or apples. There a tons of choices.
