Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
Realizing I could go to a Community College in my community.
Realizing my Community College offered a Bachelors program through a UMass school.
Made the leap to go straight to campus for my Bachelors so I could achieve my degree sooner.
Graduated with Bachelors and began to research Masters degrees that would fit my work and home life.
Applied to graduate program and have never been more excited than being accepted!!

Day to Day

They might see me meet with someone who has chronic health issues and is experiencing depression. My job is to listen and to see how I may be able to give them tools to lessen their depression. I also help people access resources to have their basic needs met. A great day is when there is a problematic situation and there is an opportunity to come up with a workable solution.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Research is key. Volunteering somewhere in the local community that works with people, for example, a homeless shelter or a helpline is a way to see if the career is suitable for you.
