Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
Completing high school and getting all of my certifications was definitely satisfying.
But looking back, I wish I'd taken more time to figure out what my passion was.
It was definitely hard to find full-time work in the area that I live in.
Most recently, I was an administrative assistant at Shell Oil and Gas.
I enjoyed some of the benefits of that job, but when I was laid off, I was actually happy.
After being laid off, I had to find a new passion to pursue; I decided to take up gardening.
Now I'm experimenting with growing all different types of vegetables out of my home.

Day to Day

Right now, I'm just starting out, so I'm doing a lot of experimenting. For most of the day, I do a ton of research on new ways to grow my vegetables on sites like Pinterest. Once the weather gets nicer, I'll be planting more outside, but during winter and fall, I do a lot of windowsill growing and experimenting with different buds and clippings.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for middle school students

You can start pursuing gardening at any time and any age. I literally started gardening using just a plastic tub and some lettuce that I'd bought from the store, so you don't need too many resources to get started!
