Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
I went to college to be a doctor...
But I changed my mind and thought I wanted to be a psychologist.
After I graduated from college, I wanted a break from school so I got a job with a nonprofit org.
Then after working for a few different nonprofits, I wanted to go work in corporate America.
Since I've been at AT&T, I've worked in sales, human resources and the technology departments.
Each of my jobs, though, involved "communicating" so I decided to focus my attention on doing that!

Communicating / Sharing Stories

Day to Day

My job is to ensure that we deliver the right message, to the right people, at the right time, and in a manner in which they will receive it. To do that, I spend a lot of time talking to people so I can understand the story they want to tell or the type of response they need from their audience. My day-to-day at the office entails being on conference calls and in meetings, and I also spend quite a bit of time writing and creating presentations.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Get an internship that will allow you to practice your writing and creating in a professional setting. Also, working for the school newspaper, magazine, or online publication would be great experience.
