Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
First, I majored in Education because my mom told me that I was born a teacher.
I did my student teaching in a 10th grade classroom and loved it! I did get accepted to law school.
Then I decided to get into law school because I thought I wanted to be a lawyer.
Then I made the decision to not go to law school and get a master's degree in Education.

Day to Day

A great day at work is filled with lots of laughter! A student would enjoy their day with me because I enjoy what I do and enjoy others. Of course, I would return lots of emails from parents and college admissions officers. I would visit with teachers about students who may be needing encouragement or support in the classroom. They would see me smiling and visiting with other students and asking them if they've logged into Naviance, our college planning solution, or searched for scholarships.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Someone in college should seek out the perfect place for her / him to complete her / his graduate degree in Education and / or Counseling. I would also start substituting in a school system where the college student would like to work.
