A great day means that I have prepared ahead of time - camera is ready, batteries charged and the alarm set for an early start before the sun appears. We're out to catch those first 15-30 minutes when the sun breaks the horizon and my camera is set and ready to go. I have already scouted out a place to photograph for these "golden minutes" that all photographers love. The light is premium. The next few hours are spent shooting, then a good breakfast, and back home to process in Photoshop.
Advice for Getting Started
Here's the first step for middle school students
Do some research on photography and graphic art. Talk to your art teacher, photographers and artists. Find out where they went to school, how they became artists and teachers. Ask them when they knew this was their passion. List your favorite things to do and then number 1,2,3 as your top choices. Select courses that relate to those top 3, Explore other areas in middle school and high school but be sure to select those favorite areas too.
