My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Went to grad school and earned a degree. I forgot to live a little.
2.
Got a job, in my field, to support myself and got stuck for a while.
3.
Found a "better" job only to realize ultimately that I wasn't happy - after a lot of years!
4.
Started to think about what was next. Started to take classes and started to dream.
5.
Quit my FT "job with benefits" position and the security that came with it and struck out on my own.
6.
Found out working for myself is very scary, very empowering and downright great for me!

THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
You're not that smart.
How I responded:
They don't know smart! I found out that just because some people are book smart doesn't mean they are emotionally smart, insightful smart or people smart. There are all kinds of smart out there and having the guts and capacity to survive under difficult circumstances is sometimes smarter than any other kind of smart.
