Day In The Life Of A Video Game Producer

My Day to Day

My role as a producer is to keep the team connected. I spend time checking in with other team members to make sure we're all on track with product milestones. I also make sure the team is staying consistent with product vision and other stakeholder points of interest. If we hit any roadblocks, it's my job to help the team work together to find a solution.

Skills & Education

Advice for getting started

I've experienced many moments of self-doubt in my career. I'd question if I belong in this industry or if I can even succeed here when I didn't grow up playing videos games like so many others in the industry had. I pull myself out of those thoughts by remembering that I'm here for a reason. I have a great opportunity to do something I'm interested in—there's no reason that I can't do it. I may not have a childhood background in gaming but I bring unique skills and life experience to the table.

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

    Industrial and Product Design

    Universidad de Los Andes

  • Graduate Degree

    Design and Technology

    Parsons School of Design

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • I moved from Colombia to New York for graduate school. Moving away from my family, home, and culture was very difficult. I thought I'd made a bad decision. It got a lot better once I became more involved in my classes and discovered my true passion.
