It is important to be focused, organized and motivated so you do not end up wasting time. Hold yourself accountable for the daily tasks you set.

Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
Graduated High School
Started my first job in the IT Industry. Started working in reception and then proceeded to sales.
Earned my Public Relations Certificate with Penn Foster.
Got frustrated that I wasn't using my creative abilities in my current field and lost hope I ever would and quit my job.
Started working in the Veterinary Field as a receptionist. And started the Veterinary Practice Management Undergrad Cert with Penn Foster. I LOVED working with animals and working with a team.
Realized the Veterinary field did not provide the creative growth I was looking for either. :(
I appealed to my old job and negotiated for the marketing position and got it!
Changed my degree of study to Computer Information Systems with Penn Foster! Not only is this degree relevant, it will give me technical knowledge I can use to become an IT instructor next!
Keep following my journey

My work combines:
Writing

Being Creative

Day to Day

I start the first hour of my day with researching current trends in the IT industry. (This is the industry I work in) I also listen to some informational webinars on how to market, post, and create better. I post to all social media accounts. I write blogs, work on email marketing campaigns, create marketing materials and design the graphics to go with all the content. I also measure our SEO and analytics to see what is working and what's not. Then I start all over again!

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

Find a few companies you would like to work for and see yourself there for the long term. It took me 7 years to get where I am but that doesn't mean it will take you that long, just be prepared. Start at the bottom, even if that means reception work but be available to take on projects that allow you to be more creative. Start a program in school that will teach you to be tech savy such as Computer Information Systems or Graphic Design with Penn Foster. You will need those skills. Trust me.
