Messages from Society in general:
The general consensus that I heard from many of my peers, family and friends is that careers in insurance are boring and old fashioned. This is not the case at all! There are so many different opportunities within the insurance industry.
How I responded:
Research different opportunities that interest you; whether they be in Underwriting, IT, Operations, Business Intelligence, etc. Providing additional details about the industry and specific opportunities available can open others' eyes to the different careers available within insurance.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Like most other students, I took out loans during college to help cover the cost of tuition & other expenses. Luckily, there are many insurance industry scholarships that can help cover a Risk Management and Insurance degree. Never hesitate to apply!
